UPDATE - January 2012

Taranaki Regional Council ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS - Award Winners - AGRICULTURAL-     For Biodiversity & Native Bush Enhancement

Final Trap Tally's are In for 2011 - 380 Total predators/pests trapped - December 2011 tally was 36 up from the last few months.  Still a decline from 2010 total of 510...

What's still worrying is the number of ferral cats that we are still trapping 19 and still catching a few stoats 16 for 2011.  We caught 5 stoats in December and they were all in the same bush block Kaihua - most probably a family.

The sign for the Platform has now been lasered engraved on wood and we still have to mount it on the platform in the Parareka Bush Block.

Another exciting developemnt we have notice here with our Bush Blocks is that when you walk in them now the bush floor is covered in very small green seedlings everywhere, this is very neat to see and it shows that the work still being done is making an impact on the whole biodiversity of our project.  With our Rat Cafes checked and poison placed in them  regularly I'd say this has an impact on the amount of rats around as well.

No new photos for December's update - I have a few for January so will  keep you all posted.  No other news will see you in February with January's Latest News.

 Take Care
